The world’s largest population, a cacophony of culture, food, religion and wildlife, India’s the jewel in a continent that never ceases to amaze.

There is so much to love about India and we always seem to come back with more on our bucket list than we managed to tick off. Whether you want to escape to the Himalayan wilderness or get lost in the stunning food markets no two days in India are ever the same.

Key Information

  • Leopards and Tigers: January & February. The weather remains comfortable but there’s enough warmth to draw the tigers to water, a key aspect when working in dense forest.

    Snow Leopards: November - February

With the colder conditions and snow covering most of the peaks the snow leopards are forced to venture down into the valleys in search of prey.

Once the temperatures start to warm up from March onwards the Snow line becomes higher allowing prey to find food elsewhere and disperse, making it harder to spot the ghost of the mountain.

  • Snow Leopards: Hemis National Park, Ladakh. The jagged peaks of the Himalayas rise above you like a cathedral. The series of interconnected valleys weave their way through the mountains revealing the most breathtaking landscape you could imagine. And with the titanic tracking team from Lungmar Remote Camp your chances of seeing one of the world's most elusive creatures is higher than anywhere else in the Trans Himalaya ecosystem.

Tigers: Ranthambhore, Rajasthan. The dry deciduous woodlands of Ranthambore make finding and photographing tigers slightly easier than the thicker jungles of central India. Ranthambhore, much like other parts of India has a wide variety of wildlife besides tigers. Sightings of leopards and sloth bears are also possible here.

Leopards: Jawai; a unique landscape in Rajasthan that provides a truly unique experience to see and photograph leopards in a landscape like nowhere else on earth. Billion year old granite boulders litter the semi desert landscape and this is where the leopards make their home, among the cracks and crevices of these ancient rocks.

Our Favourites

Sujan, Jawai

Sujan have created “Eden’ quite literally. A private encampment within Jawai this two double bedroom suite with it’s own pool offer the perfect family get away. Jawai also offer a range of activities to keep “the Kids” entertained from game drives to horse riding to mountain biking and various cultural activities.

Sher Bagh, Ranthambhore

If you were to ask Matt what his all time favorite camp is, Sher Bagh would be his answer. Sujan have created a masterpiece, the camp itself is out of this world and has a rich history of conservation within Ranthmabhore. The camp is located only a short drive from the more favorable zone 2 & 3 and has the best guides in the area. All this combined makes Sher Bagh on of the most magical safari experiences in the world.

Snow Leopard Camp, Himalayas

One of our all time favourite camps. Nestled in the Himalayas, 13,000ft above sea level and with a collective eye on the horizon for the ghost of the mountains - the snow leopard, this place feels remote in a way nowhere else we venture manages.
