Photographic Safaris

Armstrong Fortescue was born out of the idea that photographic safaris can occasionally seem rigidly structured or aimed solely at semi-pro photographers intent on taking thousands of images.

We believe photography should be two things; fun and engaging. The fun is easy. Ultimately you are on a once in a life time trip and you should enjoy it, the more you enjoy it the better your images will be. The engaging side we look to bring in more subtly, helping you craft an image style that turn your safari snaps in to a genuine wildlife photography portfolio.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to travel a lot over the years but, until travelling to Svalbard with Matt and Will of Armstrong Fortescue, I hadn’t been to the arctic; it did not disappoint!

The arctic scenery is stunning and surreal and seeing polar bears and other arctic wildlife in their natural environment was breathtaking, I was blown away. Matt and Will put together an amazing itinerary...Matt’s expertise as a guide and Will’s photography coaching proved invaluable.”

Upcoming Photo Safaris

  • ZAMBIA

    OCTOBER 2024

In October 2024 we have taken exclusive use of two beautiful camps, Musekese and Kutali in the Kafue and Lower Zambezi respectively.

Our days will be spent in search of big cats on the open plains and elephants and buffalo stretching through the regions endemic winterthorn forests.

This will be a photo heavy trip, led by two of our specialist Armstrong Fortescue photo guides.

  • KENYA

    OCTOBER 2024

We’ve been looking to add a Mara/ Amboseli itinerary to our offering since we first began our guided trips in 2021.

Co-founder Will spent his first three years in the industry based in the Mara, working as a resident photographer for Governors’ Camp Collection. Since then he has spent weeks in Amboseli following super tuskers and elephant herds across the lake beds and open plains.

In his opinion there is nowhere better to photograph Africa’s most iconic species.

  • SVALBARD

    MAY 2025

Following sell out success in 2024 we cannot wait to get back to Svalbard in 2025.

As with previous years we have chartered MV Villa, a ship and team we now know so well, and will spend eight nights sailing the west coast of the Svalbard archipelago.

From stunning landscapes to the holy grail of Arctic wildlife; the polar bear, polar plunges for the adventurous and daily zodiac excursions we adore our time up here in the frozen north.

  • AMBOSELI

    SEPTEMBER 2025

Following the success of our private safaris in Amboseli we will now host our first, week long Amboseli group safari.

Staying with our favourite team at Elephant Garden Camp and utilising an off road permit to ensure access to little known areas of the national park, this will be a fantastic chance to enhance your wildlife photography portfolio as we focus on super tuskers and the huge elephant herds Amboseli is so famous for.

There’ll be an emphasis on creating unique and original images, with a deep delve in to black and white photography, something our guides are well known for.

  • SOUTH LUANGWA

    OCTOBER 2025

Having sold out our Zambia itinerary in 2024 we knew a repeat was on the cards in 2025. This time round we will be focussing on South Luangwa, home to one of Africa’s most accessible leopard populations, last year we were spoilt with daily sightings of this most illusive of big cats.

Lion and painted wolves are also major highlights here with the stunning Luangwa river backdrop as well as multiple eye level photography hides. Our group will have exclusive use of our camp, Mwamba, and make this a real hub for photography.

Full details will be released in late 2024 but you can register interest with us below.

  • SERENGETI

    MARCH 2026

Following William’s success in Wildlife Photographer of the Year with his shot from Namiri Plains in the Serengeti, we are delighted to be offering a group safari here in 2026.

Full details will be released later in 2024 but to reserve a spot or add yourself to the waiting list please use the form below and we will send you all the relevant details prior to announcing it to the public.

  • NAMIBIA

    2026

An exciting new photography and adventure itinerary for Armstrong Fortescue. Namibia is perhaps the most stunning country in southern Africa; sand dunes that sweep in to the Atlantic Ocean, mountains that climb from desert to sky and with an incredible abundance of wildlife, this will be a phenomenal itinerary, one Will and Matt are really excited about.

Full details of this trip will be released in early 2025, but you can register early interest using the form below.

  • ALASKA

    2026

Another new Armstrong Fortescue itinerary. We'll be out in the land of the grizzly bear in 2025 on a private trip and 2026 will see the launch of our first guided group tour.

We're keeping details on this one quiet for now but for guests who feel like they've done it all, this will be something totally new.

To register interest for this strictly limited spaces trip, use the form below and we will keep you informed on all the details as they are released.
